Fitness has always been a major part of my life. I started training in Shotokan Karate when I was 4 years old and loved trail running in southern West Virginia where I grew up. While I played sports as a kid, I didn't discover my passion for strength and resistance training until numerous injuries required them for me to get back to my active self. I still love to get out on a trail whenever possible with my wife and dog, but you can usually find me pushing myself and clients in the gym.
While I grew up running and hiking trails in the Appalachian Mountains, I fell in love with strength training and helping others achieve their fitness goals at my future father-in-law’s gym and physical therapy practice. I was going to business school, in the best shape of my life, and told myself that I would be finished with training once I “made it” in sales. After graduating and working in enterprise sales for over 5 years, I found myself getting increasingly out of shape. The stress of working long hours and pressing deadlines meant that my fitness goals kept getting further and further out of reach. I had always had a passion for fitness and helping others, but it wasn’t until my father-in-law was hospitalized that things really came into focus. Did I want to continue chasing profits for big companies or could I pivot to helping others make a lasting change in their lives? Sadly, my father-in-law passed away after a long-fought battle in July 2024. The community he had built, the lives he had changed, and the impact he had left on a very rural community showed me that’s what I wanted to do. The following month, I started classes to become a Physical Therapist Assistant like him and started taking training seriously.
I focus on helping athletes breaking through plateaus, people working through previous injuries, and those who are just starting to find the joy of testing their limits. I'm most passionate about meeting people where they are on their fitness journey. Everyone doesn't have a history of being an athlete, and that's totally fine! While I love working with athletes preparing to compete or trying to get to the next level, I wake up every morning excited to work with the people who are just getting started. I'm here to be your hype man and coach during the entire process.
